Notes for Thomas JONES
Described as “of Penygaltegva” in Ruth Speed’s will. Penygaltegva is in Llanfwrog Rural Parish and was in Bodangharad township. Although Richard Jones, his brother inherited the Bondyangharad property from his father it appears that Thomas was the tenant for most of his life and farmed it, although he may have had a lease as he appears in the court leet summons lists for 1755 (as “Thomas Jones of Peny Galltegva”) . The Pengalltegfa property was extensive when the first tithe map in 1840 was produced. The nearest major house was Pool Park owned by the Bagots and given the evidence of a later map of the Pool Park estate they may later in the 18thC have acquired the farm.20

He was probably born and baptised in Llanfwrog Parish in 1696 (entry for 13th December for Thomas son of John David) which indicates that his father bought the Bogyangharad property after the birth of his brother Richard who was baptised in a different parish.

Mentioned in the Will of Mary Jones 21 proved in 1761 as her brother in law. H e was with others the executor of his father John David’s Will of 1723 and recdeived a bequest.
