Llewelyn Frederick Menzies-Jones was educated at Eton and Oxford University and then studied art at the Slade School of Fine Art and at the Royal College of Art. He returned to Eton where he taught in the drawing schools. David Buckman writes; 'He was known as Mones and appears in Wifred Blunt's memoir Slow on the Feather, where he is described as " a tall, courtly, middle-aged, well-to-do eccentric Welshman, a bachelor of course, gaunt as Don Quixote. " Wilfred Blunt was also a drawing master of Eton, and was the brother of Professor Antony Blunt, art historian and spy. Menzies-Jones was a painter, etcher, pastellist and potter and he exhibited at the Royal Institute, Walker's Galleries and Paris Salon.
