Took over the family business from his father in 1911. The last Joyce involved in JB Joyce & Co. Sold the business to John Smith and Sons of Darby in 1965. Built the Shanghai Custom House Clock “Big Ching” on the Bund in 1928. Its dials were 18ft in diameter, weighing 1 1/2 tons each.
